2013 was a great year for us and we want to thank you all for continuing to read and share our articles, tagging your photos #hookedonhops, and saying hello to us when we are out at a bar or festival. We appreciate all of it, and we are excited for what’s to come in 2014!
In the meantime, I have compiled the articles and topics that were the most popular over the past year. Enjoy! (more…)
I must confess, that as many times as I have frequented Aces and Ales, I have yet to attend either a dinner event, or Tuesday Night Tastings. This is not due to a lack of faith, as I have yet to enjoy a less than stellar dish during any eating experience at this establishment. Mainly, it’s simply due to life obligations sadly getting in the way of my palate’s enjoyment. Thankfully, both Luis and I were able to attend the recent Coronado Beer Dinner, and I must say, I can’t wait to attend the next!

UDATED WITH TAP LIST!
This upcoming Friday, July the 26th, the Nevada Craft Brewers Association is having a tap takeover at the new Aces & Ales on Tenaya. Expect to see most of the local breweries in attendance as they pour specially brewed beers for the event. Additionally, $1 from each pint will be donated to the Nevada Craft Brewers Association.
The event begins at 7PM.

I’ve lost count of how many emails I’ve received from people flying into Las Vegas, asking where to get craft beer here. Serious Eats just posted an article I wrote, talking briefly about six different spots that I think should be on any list for Las Vegas craft beer.
Keep in mind though, this list is far from complete, as there are plenty of places with great beer menus. Places like Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay, Holsteins in Cosmopolitan, and The Pub in Monte Carlo are a couple more examples for places on the strip that have a great beer menu. Off the strip, there’s places like The Dillinger, Money Plays, and Freakin Frog that also have a great beer list. If you’re looking for bottle shops, in addition to Khoury’s, the Las Vegas Boulevard Whole Foods is always my go to spot, and for most people, there’s a Total Wine nearby that’s a trip too. There really is a great beer culture here in Las Vegas, as long as you know where to look.
The Serious Eats article can be found here.
The new Aces & Ales location lives up to, and even exceeds, the expectations it set with its original location. This new location is incredible!
Granted, it’s hard to argue with 50 craft beers available on tap, or a soon to open dog-friendly patio! There will even be a private lounge for special events, and they will feature the same made from scratch, fresh food menu that Aces has been known for. While there are still a few odds and ends to tie up, this bar still stands as one of the best Las Vegas craft beer bars, despite only being open for just over 48 hours!
Be sure to check this place out, and if you happen to see Ryan or Kerri in there, congratulate them on a job well done!
Address: 2801 North Tenaya Way, Las Vegas Nevada 89128
Once again, Aces & Ales is holding their annual Stone Domination tap takeover. As always, Stone co-founder and CEO Greg Koch will be in attendance, probably signing bottles, probably preaching, probably stage diving off of the bar…
See below for the incredible tap list: (more…)
Two weeks from now, there are a few awesome New Belgium events coming to Las Vegas, courtesy of our local Beer Ranger, Karl Herrera. New Belgium’s Sensory Specialist/Blender/Organoleptic Educator, Lauren Salazar will be in town bringing some special beers to all of these events.
(All tap lists below subject to change)
First, a tap takeover at Khoury’s on Wednesday, March 13th at 6pm, featuring the following beers on draft: (more…)
The first event will take place at Khoury’s Fine Wine and Spirits on Wednesday, March 6th at 6pm, with a sampling of Epic brews. On Thursday, March 7th at 5pm, Malachowski and co-owner Dave Cole, will be at Aces and Ales for the official rollout with a tap takeover to include 21 different Epic brews. On Friday, March 8th, there will be two sampling opportunities at Total Wine in Bocca Park at 3pm, and Total Wine in Henderson at 6pm. Finally, on Saturday, March 9th, Epic will be attending the Brews Best Beer Festival at Lake Las Vegas starting at 12pm.
Epic makes some absolutely fantastic beers, and this is extremely great news! Be sure to check out as many of the above events as possible.
Aces and Ales did it again, and in a big way. I’ve been to their Strong Beer Fest, Winter Beer Fest, Stone Domination, etc., but never have I felt the sense local community like I did a week ago Saturday. Aces and Ales presented their first ever Homegrown Tap Takeover, which brought together Las Vegas’ four most well known breweries: Tenaya Creek, Joseph James, Big Dog’s and Chicago Brewing Company.
Before I get into the beer, much praise needs to be heaped upon everyone that had a hand in making this special event happen. The organization and execution was flawless, and the Aces crew were in high spirits as they hustled to deliver great craft beer and delicious food to the insatiable palates of their patrons. The breweries put their best efforts forward and really were able to come through with some memorable offerings. A huge thank you to everyone involved. (more…)
